Every photograph has a story. When photographing people, it is the expression and body language which sets the tone of the picture. After photographing tons of spontaneous pedestrians, this photo stood out to me due to the emotion set off by the homeless man, sitting in a very casual position but with a perplexed, strained facial expression. Every day, we see tons of homeless people on the street begging for money but how often do we stop and think about how they feel when they see us? If we do stop, its usually only for a few seconds to leave money or food. This image elongates that moment, and for me, allows me to stop and think about the reality.
